Vision For Baltimore
Vision for Baltimore provides access to comprehensive vision screenings, eye exams, and vision care services for every Baltimore City public school student in kindergarten through eighth grade. Since 2015, more than 135,000 students have been screened and more than 18,000 pairs of glasses have been distributed.
Community Partnerships
Johns Hopkins has long worked with neighborhood leaders to foster community stability and growth through initiatives that enhance public health, education, and economic vibrancy. We strive together to strengthen community ties by supporting a diverse set of programs with community leaders, businesses and nonprofit organizations, and other partners focused on strengthening Baltimore.

Public Education
Johns Hopkins is dedicated to the belief that a path to success begins with a strong public education system. To that end, Hopkins has invested time, talent and resources into helping bolster Baltimore City Public Schools—from its partnership in starting the Henderson Hopkins School in East Baltimore to its Cummings Scholars Program that makes a Hopkins education free or nearly free to city students.
Community Safety
Johns Hopkins is committed to supporting the public health approach Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott has implemented to achieve record declines in violence. That vision has excelled at getting key community stakeholders, state government agencies, and city residents to embrace a community-based approach that reframes how violence is addressed. This approach is what has driven the Johns Hopkins Innovation Fund for Community Safety.

Public Service
Johns Hopkins employees and students engaged in more than 51,000 hours of community service estimated to have a $1.65 million economic impact in 2024. Several different programs help to coordinate those efforts, including Center for Social Concern, SOURCE, and the Urban Health Institute.
Growing With Hopkins
“There is so much out there as far as resources for people who maybe had never imagined they could own a home … that allowed us to afford the home we really wanted. Baltimore is our home.”
—Karol Martinez, Live Near Your Work program participant
